Sometimes, Less (Range of Motion) is More

You’ve heard it before: more isn’t always better. Sometimes less is more.

One aspect of fitness that we don’t often relate to this saying, however, is range of motion. We tend to think more movement is always better – that squatting deeper, pulling further, reaching lower will get you better results.

Don’t get me wrong; we always encourage moving through the full range of motion that you can control. The key word there being control.

To avoid injury, work on building strength and control in your end ranges, and truly own your movements. Mobility without stability can put you into a compromised position – and that’s the opposite of what you want to do while training.
